Power Analyst / Junior Trader (m/f)

As part of the Trading & Origination department, the Power Trading Team is responsible for proprietary trading of power across most of Europe. With a strong focus on fundamental and analysis based risk taking, the desk is comprised of both traders and analysts working together to optimally share information, identify opportunities and implement trading strategies.

Your role:

  • Apply, maintain and develop analytical modeling of power market fundamentals
  • Prepare price forecasts, describe uncertainties and communicate price expectations
  • Suggest concrete trading strategies and engage in discussions with traders and other analysts regarding risk taking and position management
  • Follow major regulatory and structural changes in the European power and other relevant markets
  • Play a pro-active role in further establishing Statkraft’s presence in the energy trading communities

Your profile:

  • Academic background, preferably masters in a business or quantitative discipline
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in stack modelling of power markets
  • Genuine interest in understanding the fundamentals of energy markets combined with a quantitative approach to generating profitable trading strategies
  • Practical experience with trading power in at least one of Europe’s power markets, preferably Italy or France
  • Solid modelling and programming skills (VBA). Advanced skills in statistics or econometrics
  • Strong commitment to perform and to deliver results under pressure
  • Excellent team-player with very good communication skills
  • Strong written and verbal command of the English language
