Business Development Manager Solar

In Continental Europe Statkraft owns and operates over 2000 MW of generation capacity in Germany and has offices in Düsseldorf, London, Stockholm, Belgrade, Sofia, Lyon, Istanbul and Amsterdam. Since 1998 we have been active in trading and origination of power, gas, renewable certificates, emissions certificates and structured products.

Statkraft Markets B.V in Amsterdam was established in 1998 as the first office outside Norway and currently houses the Global Environmental Markets and Solar teams. Since its inception this office has continuously developed new business opportunities for the office and Statkraft as a whole. There is an entrepreneurial culture amongst the employees in developing and implementing such new opportunities in a corporate environment.

Your role:

You will be part of the Solar team currently focused primarily on developing large scale ground mounted solar PV projects in The Netherlands. With your industry experience, you are expected to play a pivotal role in making Statkraft a successful player in the solar PV business in other countries in (South of) Europe.The role is based in Amsterdam initially, but with the possibility to later relocate to one of the identified new countries in Europe.You will work closely together with the head of the team and, partially a Statkraft trainee.In this role you will be part of a growing team with increasing responsibility and scope and you will have the possibility to become the right hand of the head of the team in overseeing  the current and future business activities.

In detail the following tasks will be part of your job profile:

  • Identifying and analysing new  countries for solar business in (South of) Europe
  • Assessing which solar business model would be best suited to pursue in these countries
  • Assessing Statkraft’s capability to organically grow solar business activities in these countries  through M&A, partnerships or strategic alliances
  • Testing the viability of identified solar business models with (local) developers, EPC companies, authorities and investors
  • Write the business plans for these countries and present these to management
  • If approved implement the business plan

Your profile:

  • University degree in business, economics, engineering or equivalent
  • 5-10 years of experience with and knowledge of solar PV as a technology and in one or more solar countries in Europe
  • Broad network with developers, EPC companies, authorities and investors
  • Transaction-focused; experienced in negotiating and executing contracts and managing counterparty relationships
  • Self-directed individual who will meet deadlines and deliver quality results without continual monitoring/supervision
  • Fluent in English and at least one other (South) European language
  • Preparedness to travel
