Quantitative Developer (m/f)

In Germany Statkraft has since 1999 been an active trader of power, gas, renewable and emission certificates and a broad range of structured products. We are one of the leading players and service providers in managing distributed energy generation.

Your department:

As part of the Trading & Origination Department, Statkraft’s Origination team concludes non-standard, often complex transactions in wholesale energy markets. As such it is responsible for developing and maintaining a state of the art Portfolio Management (PM) infrastructure and valuation models in close cooperation with IT and other internal departments.

Your role: 

  • Develop and set up a new state of the art PM infrastructure to best serve our own and customer’s needs, this includes, but is not limited to:
    • the overall system design together with the Origination portfolio managers and our IT department
    • the cooperation with external software suppliers on implementation and integration
    • the testing and setup of the PM infrastructure within the Statkraft IT landscape
    • design, creation and maintenance of a database structure
  • Provide quantitative support to Origination, PM and Statkraft, this includes, but is not limited to:
    • helping develop complex deal structures and valuation models with in depths knowledge of financial and mathematical modelling
    • constantly developing, improving and adapting quantitative tools and optimization according to market needs
    • the development of individual tools in cooperation with developers in other departments
    • derive new and more efficient evaluation methodologies for existing business and be open towards new business ideas based on your analytical skills
  • Support back-office and IT departments when implementing new systems and procedures
  • Understand the commercial drivers for the Origination business and power market essentials
  • Liaise closely with team members and analysis functions to share know-how and market views

Your profile:

  • At least 3 years of experience in the field of quantitative and optimisation developments (Developer, Quant, Structurer)
  • University degree in mathematics, computer science, finance, statistics or other
  • Scripting knowledge in Java, C++, Python & VBA is essential, other languages (C#. R) are an advantage
  • Database knowledge (SQL, Oracle)
  • Excellent quantitative and analytical skills
  • Know-how in pricing of structured, non-standard contracts in power/finance markets are an advantage
  • Self-driven individual with a hands-on mentality, international experience is a plus
  • Efficient communicator with ability to explain complex issues in a comprehensible way
  • Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Fluent English skills (oral and in writing), German skills are an advantage
