For our office in Düsseldorf we are currently looking to hire a

Back Office Specialist (Commodity Operations) (m/f/d)

In Germany Statkraft has since 1999 been an active trader of power, gas, renewable and emission certificates and a broad range of structured products. We are one of the leading players and service providers in managing distributed energy generation.

Your department:

The commodity operations team in Düsseldorf is responsible for the financial operations of Trading and Origination products. Part of the team’s responsibilities is to ensure a timely and accurate delivery of Back Office figures for the commercial business to our Finance Department (net revenue /operation revenue).

Your role: 

  • Primary contact in the commodity operation team for our business in Düsseldorf for different commodity products traded in different countries such as power, gas, options, futures, certificates amongst others
  • Support our Front Office in the implementation of new products and entering new markets
  • Strong contribution in month-end closing processes, including inventory calculation and accruals
  • Applying a good understanding of the components of a trade deal and the implications for billing, PnL analysis, SAP booking, Tax treatments and all revenue accounting aspects
  • Responsible for billing and cost allocation of the different products
  • Approve and control incoming and outgoing documents:  approval, posting and preparation of payment
  • Communicate with internal and external customers about all matters regarding operational trading
  • Implement improvement and quality assurance of processes and systems
  • Close co-operation with Front Office and other units in the Finance Department
  • Cooperate and work closely with the Commodity Operations team in Düsseldorf and Amsterdam

Your profile:

  • Education in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration
  • Minimum 3-5 year experience in Financial or accounting tasks in Energy related companies
  • Deep understanding of SAP FI is a must
  • Excellent IT skills. Experience in any advanced programming language, like Python, Java, C++, Access (would be an advantage), Murex (MX3) preferable or experience with any other trading system
  • Precise, accurate and systematic working style
  • A good team player with excellent communication skills
  • Strong command of English and German, any other language is a plus
  • Experience in a multi-national environment is an advantage
  • Enjoy working in fast-paced, challenging and international environment
