Senior Analyst – Wind and Solar Auctions in Corporate Strategy and Analysis

The Corporate Strategy & Analysis department in Statkraft is responsible for Statkraft’s long term market analysis on a global level, and for each of the markets Statkraft operates in. It is also responsible for developing the strategy for the Statkraft group.

We are looking for an Auction Specialist in Corporate Strategy & Analysis to help build and lead the company’s Auction Excellence Function.

The ideal candidate will have significant experience in renewable energy auctions in key countries (EU, Brazil, Chile, India, Turkey). The candidate’s experience can be in a direct role in government, regulator, project developer and similar or in an advisory role providing technical expertise to the same. 

Purpose of the role:

The purpose of this role is to help build up and lead Statkraft’s Auction Excellence Function (quantitative and qualitative). This includes:

  • Closely monitoring the design and performance of RES auctions in key markets and keep an overview of planned auctions in near future
  • Researching the development of RES auctions and how they are likely to evolve over time, including strategic implications for Statkraft
  • Building up and maintaining auction modelling/simulation tools based on internal data and analytics and auction theory.
  • Taking part in auctions bid teams, advising internal decision makers and leaders on bidding strategies.
  • Contributing to internal strategy and commercial decision-making processes (valuation, impairment, strategy processes) relevant to the specific market
  • Ensuring cooperation and learning on these topics across the company
  • Contributing to the long-term market analysis of Statkraft markets more broadly 

Your Profile:

  • Master’s degree in economics, mathematics, engineering or similar with strong results
  • 10 years of relevant work experience in power market analysis, with at least 3 years of experience of designing, implementing, supporting and participating in renewable energy auctions
  • Theoretical and analytical understanding of auctions, including game theory, options theory, etc.
  • Proven auction modelling/simulation capability (including coding expertise)
  • Able to use and develop qualitative and quantitative methods/tools to analyse complex data and markets to identify trends and strategic implications
  • Self-driven, creative, motivated and a positive team player
  • Project management experience is an advantage
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English – including slides and written memoranda. Skills in languages such as Spanish, Portuguese and French will be an advantage

Location/ Travel: The position will be located at the head office in Lilleaker, Oslo, Norway. Willingness to travel is required (approximately between 50-70 days each year).

Statkraft manages critical infrastructure and services in several countries. The applicant must be eligible for security clearance and authorisation.
