We are now recruiting an Energy Storage Manager to work in our Project Delivery department in either London or Glasgow.

 

This interesting and vital role will be part of a technical team providing storage and hybrid power system expertise in support of Statkraft projects, whether combined with renewable energy generation technologies such as Solar PV, wind, or new standalone storage projects.

 

You will work on project locations mainly in the UK and Ireland, but the role will also support projects across Statkraft markets.

In this role you will work on the full range of stationary storage applications, with focus on stand-alone and co-located utility scale Li-ion Battery Storage. As the expert in this area you may also be required to investigate new and upcoming energy storage technologies!

As an Energy Storage Manager, you’ll:

  • Manage the engineering phase of storage projects, including technical planning, procurement processes, environmental planning, stakeholder management, risk management and internal decision processes.
  • Act as an expert in battery storage engineering technology and contributing to selection of best suitable technical layout.
  • Act as technical lead of BOP (Balance of Plant) interphases during procurement processes for hybrid and standalone projects.
  • Liaise with energy storage suppliers, consultants and other third parties
  • Contribute to developing and maintaining energy modelling tools including complex control logic e.g. energy trading, PPA supply and other ancillary services.
  • Maintain, develop and improve energy modelling tools for standalone storage and hybrid systems optimisation
  • Evaluation of different energy storage technologies and configurations based on technical and financial parameters
  • Creation of energy storage design guidelines for the standardisation of design approaches across the company

 

About you:

 

Essential Skills:

  • Project delivery experience in a technical role (Mechanical/Electrical/Building Services or similar)
  • Masters University degree or similar in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering or equivalent work experience
  • Expert knowledge of utility scale Storage technology
  • Competence and experience in defining and following up studies required for the Storage system

 

Experiences in these areas are also useful in your role:

  • Understanding of electrical design for both DC and AC coupled storage configurations
  • Understanding of electrical design for systems at LV and HV and design requirements of storage systems including power quality
  • Understanding of SCADA and storage operation both as stand-alone and hybrid systems
  • Understanding of electrical and civil interfaces
  • Knowledge of other European storage markets desirable
  • Commercial awareness and previous basic financial modelling experience are a plus
  • Competence in Autocad for layouts and single line diagrams desirable
